Facade Restoration

Simulates a facade restoration on a residential or institutional building: cleaning of stone or render, repointing of joints, repainting of shutters and ironwork, removal of pollution staining, graffiti, faded paint, water-stain streaks, abandoned cable runs. Architectural ornament — cornices, mouldings, window reveals, balcony ironwork — is preserved exactly; the model restores, it does not redesign. An optional period reference image can steer the post-restoration colour palette (Haussmann ochre, Northern European grey, Mediterranean lime). Honest residual patina is retained — restoration, not erasure. Useful for condominium boards and renovation contractors making the case for a specific facade refresh before signing the contract — the abstract proposal "clean and repaint the facade" turned into a concrete photograph of the post-restoration state.

A condominium board has been postponing the facade refresh for three years. The 1920s building shows pollution staining, two graffiti tags, faded shutters. The next AGM has the budget on the agenda but a vocal minority is sceptical. The building manager runs the current street photo through Facade Restoration with a Haussmann period reference, gets a clean post-restoration photograph, projects it next to the as-is photo on the screen during the vote. The motion passes.
